The Test of English as a Foreign Language – TOEFL

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a globally accepted English proficiency exam designed to evaluate the academic language skills of non-native English speakers. It tests reading, listening, speaking, and writing, and is widely preferred by universities in the United States, Canada, and other English-speaking countries. A strong TOEFL score helps students demonstrate their readiness for university-level education abroad.

Test Fee – US $130 (Additional US $15 for score report request) The maximum score is 300 and a score of 230 – 250 is considered decent.

The test has four sections –

  1. Reading – 44 to 60 questions, 70 to 90 minutes
  2. Writing – 1 essay, 30 minutes
  3. Listening – 30 to 50 questions, 40 to 60 minutes
  4. Structure – 20 to 25 questions, 15 to 20 minutes
